About Our Airline

Lone Star Service to the World!

Introduction
AeroTexas Aviation is a virtual airline with headquarters in Houston, Texas at William P. Hobby Airport. We were chartered on September 1st, 2000 when the aerotexas.com domain was registered. Since that time we have become a first class airline with a top notch website, useful and interesting tools, and an ambitious and dedicated staff. Membership to AeroTexas is free.

Philosophy
At AeroTexas we believe in easy flight reporting, diverse and flexible routes, and well-researched, high quality aircraft packages with excellent panels and sounds. We have consistently achieved many "firsts" in the VA industry, including: online route planning, real-time, real weather flight assignments, and automated flight validation.

Our Fleet
Our aircraft include some of the best models from the top designers. We believe in the open source paradigm, and our Fleet Director has amassed an impressive portfolio of contacts and acquisitions. Each aircraft is tested for ease of use and after painting are bundled with the best sounds and panels we can find, and made available directly on our website. We also support some payware aircraft.

Flight Validation and Reporting
AeroTexas made history six years ago with a unique flight validation system called ATAVS, an elegant solution to fraudulent flight reporting problems that have plagued many virtual airlines. ATAVS provides positive validation of every flight, and facilitates easy flight reporting, and it still allows the pilot to retain absolute navigational flexibility. ATAVS has been used more than 15000 times, and with it we can guarantee that every flight report is complete and accurate, and in real-time: slewing and pausing are simply not possible!

Real-Time Weather Assignments
We are the first virtual airline to offer flight assignments based on real time weather data from live weather feeds. In our cargo division pilots download flight assignments based on current hourly weather. These assignments are issued by ATX staff after weather analysis, and include a detailed cargo manifest with delivery instructions. These flights are almost always IFR, and often to airfields where CAT II/III conditions prevail.

Tools for ATXans
We are the first virtual airline to offer on-demand flight planning. The AeroTexas RouteFinder is one of our contributions back to the flight sim community; a free, online aviation route calculator. The simple online form generates a flight plan with flight path, leg distances, magnetic headings, as well as great circle headings and distance for "via direct" navigation. Additionally our members have access to descent calculators (now for Palm PDA), and other tools and documents.

Realistic Ops
AeroTexas pilots strive for on-time arrivals, and make the most of planning tools for optimal fuel loads to increase efficiency. Passenger ticket sales, freight and air mail revenues, gate agent fees, fuel costs - our members get detailed feedback after every flight.

Lone Star Service to the World!
AeroTexas flight schedules include local flights in Texas, regional jet routes, national service segments to more than five hundred Part 139 airports in the USA, and selected international destinations in Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Asia. You never know where you'll end up next!
