We had a little hiccup in the server yesterday, but everything is back to normal. If you
filed a flight report on August 13 or 14 that is not reflected on the roster please send me an e-mail
message and attach the vlog.txt file (located in the folder where you installed ATAVS). On a related note,
the messageboard is being upgraded and will be down today and tomorrow.

<title>VATSIM EVENT FOR ATX</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
VATSIM's ZFW ARTCC has invited AeroTexas to attend their Friday Night Operations (FNO) event on Friday, July 25. They will be extending their hours for FNO from 0000 to 1200 Zulu - to allow for more flexibility for domestic and international arrivals. They will be using an arrival and departure slot method. Pilots can either sign up for an arrival or departure slot or ATC will assign one to them. This event will serve as a "warm up" for their annual Summer Sizzle, which takes place August 2. Summer Sizzle is a 12 hour, live event, where ZFW controllers gather together at a hotel in Dallas, Texas. Don't forget to use your AeroTexas ID (ATX**) when flying on VATSIM. Visit http://zfwartcc.com/events2.php for more event information.

<title>FuelJabber Updated</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
One of the most useful tools on the AeroTexas website is FuelJabber - the flight
simulation fuel planner. It was designed specifically for aircraft supported at ATX, and
estimates fuel use and reserves for flights between airports. FuelJabber now
supports 24 different aircraft, and calculates diversion, holding and contingency
fuel, estimated time enroute, and even reserve fuel time, and time-to-empty.

<title>Connecting Flights</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
If you logged a flight recently you may have noticed some new
information about connecting flights. Connecting flights allow
active members to fly from point-to-point anywhere there is a
connection. Connections may include airports in the regular
schedule, as well as temporary segments created by dispatchers.
This feature should really open up a lot of new places for active
members. Each month our cargo and charter dispatchers
issue literally hundreds of new routes that are listed only
for a short amount of time - for example, new cargo routes are
typically issued on an hourly basis, and new round-trip charter segments
pop up daily. You can only see connections after you log a flight, so
file those reports and look for new places to fly every day.

AeroTexas re-introduces international flights with the first of a series of international flights with regional connecting segments. We start this new series with non-stop flights from our new headquarters at Austin, Texas to London's Gatwick airport, with connections to Manchester, Spain, and northern France. Each month ATX INTL plans to bring you new international destinations and plenty of adventurous flights for turboprops, regional and large jets. Members are reminded that the INTL authorization <i>is</i> required for international flights where designated (currently this applies only to the Austin-Gatwick route); international service flights not so designated are considered open to all pilots.

<title>WE MOVED!</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
<p>
AeroTexas moved to a new server at Dreamhosting! The past several years have been difficult as we
made many attempts to work under the changing guidelines of our previous host, 24hostingnow. Feeling
once-bitten and twice-shy, it was important that we made the right decision before moving the
entire website - so we carefully selected a host with which we could grow - and what we found was
DreamHosting.com - which also happens to be carbon neutral. This means that AeroTexas is also
carbon-neutral, so most likely you're looking at the first eco-friendly virtual airline! There's still
a bit of work to be done, and it may take a few more days before some features of the website are
entirely operational, but the long term benefits certainly should outweigh the short-term
inconvenience, we hope so! Thanks for your patience - we're making a new transition and anticipate
many new and exciting changes at AeroTexas.

<title>New Aircraft</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
AeroTexas has just released two new aircraft: (1) Tommie's new Convair 580 for TTA - this is a superb rendition of the CV580 used by TTA in the early days on those point-to-point flights across Texas. It comes with a complete installer that has a panel, sounds, and all you need to fly this rumbling monster across suburbia and beyond; and (2) a personal favorite of mine, the Bombardier CRJ-200ER that I created for AeroTexas with a new panel, 3 different passenger textures, and one cargo texture. This aircraft also comes with a revised checklist and a flight operations reference created for members of AeroTexas.

<title>Mountain Madness</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
AeroTexas will participate in the Mountain Madness Flyin, a VATSIM-sanctioned event in the Vancouver FIR with opportunities to win prizes. It is an all day event taking place on Saturday, February 10, at 1800 - 2300 UTC, and will be sponsored by many of the companies that produce add-ons. In the next few days I will release a list of airports in the Vancouver that are approved for AeroTexas pilots (so you get to compete for the prizes and log some time for the roster as well), including suggestions for making the most points in the event. All AeroTexas pilots will be eligible to participate.

<title>Surprise Fly-In!</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
What a great time we had last Friday! AeroTexas was well represented on the VATSIM network with five pilots participating in two challenging flights on the online network. This was a surprise online event and consisted of two flights. The first flight consisted of AeroTexas pilots converging on the Houston terminal area for a simultaneous arrival at Houston Hobby. This was coordinated by departing at different times; ZHU controllers were a bit overwhelmed, but they did an admirable job. ATX76 departed from Dallas Love (KDAL), ATX92 from Shreveport, while ATX02 and ATX79 both flew in from Austin, while ATX01 arrived from Baton Rouge. The second flight of the evening, following a brief gate delay, commenced after everyone had arrived at Hobby. The five pilots departed Houston and flew the MARCS3 arrival into San Antonio. There were many controllers online, including AUS_E_APP, AUS_TWR, HOU_APP, HOU_HE_CTR, HOU_HW_CTR, HOU_LW_CTR, IAH_TWR, SAT_N_APP, SAT_N1_APP, SAT_S_APP, and SAT_TWR! It's good there were many controllers, because the traffic was congested over much of the Class B airspaces in ZHU. The conditions could not have been better, and we each made a visual approach to Runway 30L and closed our flight plans and called it a night, just a few minutes after 0300Z. The following pilots have been exempted from the next annual flight review: ATX76, ATX79, ATX92.

<title>Passenger Service</title>
<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
We have new routes in three services. Effective today, AeroTexas has expanded LStar Metroline service
with flights between Houston and San Antonio. Regionally jetters will be happy to know that the Louisiana optin has added flights to New orleans, as well as a series of flights to the Desert southwest from El Paso. We've also added flights within Texas for RJ service with flights between El Paso and Lubbock, Midland, and Amarillo. And for the big jet set, National Service flight schedules were updated yesterday.

<link>http://aerotexas.com/notams.html</link>
<description>
AeroTexas has been closely watching the release and comments about FSX. Initial testing
confirms the our flight validation system works with FSX. Even so, we are developing the
next major release of ATAVS and hope to have beta versions available to interested testers
within two weeks.

Regional Jet Captain D. Underhill (ATX23), not content to fly in the best conditions, and having logged 20 hours, requested to take the CAT II Flight Check. After a wet and bumpy go of it in southeast Texas, he landed at Hobby as our first member to receive the CAT II certification this year. Congratulations!
